Instagram Reels are the best-kept, page one, Google-ranking secret!
Problem: You are a female solopreneur or small business owner in a small town like Clovis, California…(Hey, that’s mine!) How do you rank above the competition on Google without spending any of your marketing budget? It is all so stinkin’ overwhelming!
Solution: Depending on how much or how little time you have for your digital marketing, you know if you can commit to DIYing your Instagram content or if you are ready to hire out your Instagram content creation. Is DIY calling your name right now? Sounds perfect, you can start here.
If you use the strategy below, you will rank above large businesses on page one of Google! MIC DROP!
THE PLANNING & VIDEO-CREATING STEPS
Grab a cute pen and write down your Instagram goals. Do you want a potential client to take action by DMing you, joining your email list, or booking a free clarity call?
Include the call to action in your profile. Instead of just adding a link to your website or if you are a real estate agent, to your personal page on your broker’s website, create a landing page that’s specific to Instagram. A landing page keeps your audience from getting overwhelmed and helps them focus on learning about you and how they can take the best next steps. Add the link to your landing page and watch your audience take action!
Batch Create Reels. Choose a day to batch out video content for Reels. Put this on your calendar for weekly batch days.
Short-form video. Set up a tripod for your phone and shoot B-Roll (everyday, behind-the-scenes video). These are short-form videos from 5 to 7 seconds long. Create 12 of these, so you have 3 reels per week, 12 per month. Think of making a cup of coffee, putting things on a shelf, walking into your office, or grabbing your purse and walking out of the door. Be creative and use video types that will appeal to your target audience.
Don’t want to film yourself? Use my favorite image and video resource, Elevae* (This is an affiliate link. I love Elevae and get a small commission for the referral.)
💡 Local Tip: Shoot short-form or longer-form videos at your favorite local hangouts. This works best for Realtors, Interior Designers, and Social Media Marketing Managers.
DESIGN TIPS
Use Canva to create your Reels. Find Reel templates that have the same branded style, or stick with one that you customize with new hooks each time. To easily do this, duplicate the existing Reel and pop in a new video and new hook.
*What is a hook, you ask?” It is a short sentence that highlights a struggle or must-have tip for ___________ fill in the topic.
Master the Hook: 5-7 Words That Pack a Punch
Problem: Your captions are either too long or too generic.
Solution: Start with a hook that stops the mindless scrolling!
“Struggling with low engagement? Read this.”
“Here’s why your Reels aren’t working.”
“Clovis moms, you’ll love this tip!”
Pair it with a Reel that delivers value in 7 to 15 seconds—think quick tips, funny behind-the-scenes moments, or showing off your product/service in action. Then, use the comments to expand. Want them to book your service? Write a mini sales pitch with a clear CTA (call to action).
🌟 Pro Move: Add Fresno or Clovis hashtags to boost visibility. “#FresnoBossBabes” or “#ClovisCreatives”. Wherever your ideal clients hang out.
3. Simple Reels Strategy That Actually Grows Your Business
Problem: You’re spending way too much time creating Reels with zero payoff.
Solution: Stick to this super simple formula for growth:
Plan Content Buckets: Think educational (tips, hacks), entertaining (funny moments), and engaging (Q&A or behind-the-scenes).
Batch Your Reels: Film 4-6 Reels in one afternoon so you’re not scrambling last minute.
Keep It Real: Use trending audio, but don’t rely on it. The message is what connects.
Do THIS, NOT THAT> Schedule Your Content with my favorite online scheduler, *SMARTERQUEUE, instead of posting when you feel like it, without a strategy. (Affiliate link) This is my favorite! I have tried almost all of the social media marketing schedulers out there. The difference with this one is that if for some reason you aren’t able to post for a few days or even a week, Smarterqueue will repost your best-performing content. This is the only scheduler I know that has this feature. It helped me increase my digital product sales and website traffic! I love it!
💬 Caption Tip: Talk about their pain points! Something like:
“Feel like you’re talking to a wall on Instagram? Try this one trick.”
“Ready to stand out as a Clovis female entrepreneur? Here’s what you need.”
And remember—consistency beats perfection. Post 3-4 times a week, use stories to connect daily and watch your insights grow.
